It was going to rain soon, so we put on raincoats and went to our first stop.<\/p>\n\n<h3><em><strong>CHILL SKY BAR<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\nThe rain stopped when we got to our first destination \u2013 a rooftop bar in the center of Saigon.\n\nDue to the rain we couldn\u2019t sit outside, but still had a cozy area to enjoy drinks and view the city.\n\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.expatolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Chill-Sky-Bar-Saigon-Vietnam.jpg\" alt=\"Chill Sky Bar Saigon Vietnam\" data-cke-saved-src=\"https:\/\/www.expatolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Chill-Sky-Bar-Saigon-Vietnam.jpg\" \/>\n\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.expatolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/cocktails.jpg\" alt=\"Chill Sky Bar Saigon Vietnam\" data-cke-saved-src=\"https:\/\/www.expatolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/cocktails.jpg\" \/>\n<h3><em><strong>BIKE AROUND THE CITY CENTER AT NIGHT<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n<p data-slot-rendered-dynamic=\"true\">After the drinks, we explored some highlights of the city by bike. The town looked different at night time, especially after the rain.<\/p>\nWhen we drove by Notre Dame Church and Post Office, our guides explained the history and some facts about these attractions.\n\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.expatolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Cathedral-Saigon-Vietnam.jpg\" alt=\"Cathedral Saigon Vietnam\" data-cke-saved-src=\"https:\/\/www.expatolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Cathedral-Saigon-Vietnam.jpg\" \/>\n<h3><strong><em>VISIT TH\u00cdCH QU\u1ea2NG \u0110\u1ee8C MONUMENT\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-slot-rendered-dynamic=\"true\">If you\u2019ve learned about the Vietnam war, you may have seen the very well-known photograph of the burning monk.<\/p>\nHis name was Th\u00edch Qu\u1ea3ng \u0110\u1ee9c, and he\u00a0set himself on fire to protest the persecution of Buddhists in Vietnam.\n\nWe visited the monument that now sits at the intersection where he did this. Our guides were very informative and explained the historical significance of his actions.\n\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.expatolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Thich-Quang-Duc-Saigon-Vietnam.jpg\" alt=\"Thich Quang Duc Saigon Vietnam\" data-cke-saved-src=\"https:\/\/www.expatolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Thich-Quang-Duc-Saigon-Vietnam.jpg\" \/>\n<h3><em><strong>EXPLORE AN APARTMENT COMPLEX<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\nWe drove to one of the oldest apartment complexes in Saigon.\n<p data-slot-rendered-dynamic=\"true\">Originally built for American soldiers, they are now home to a vibrant Vietnamese community, and also some of the best street food in Saigon.<\/p>\n<p data-slot-rendered-dynamic=\"true\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.expatolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Nguyen-Thien-Thuat-Apartment-Saigon-Vietnam.jpg\" alt=\"Nguyen Thien Thuat Apartment Saigon Vietnam\" data-cke-saved-src=\"https:\/\/www.expatolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Nguyen-Thien-Thuat-Apartment-Saigon-Vietnam.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p data-slot-rendered-dynamic=\"true\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.expatolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Nguyen-Thien-Thuat-Apartment-Saigon-Vietnam-photo.jpg\" alt=\"Nguyen Thien Thuat Apartment Saigon Vietnam\" data-cke-saved-src=\"https:\/\/www.expatolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Nguyen-Thien-Thuat-Apartment-Saigon-Vietnam-photo.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n\n<h3><em><strong>VISIT THE FLOWER\u00a0MARKET<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n<p data-slot-rendered-dynamic=\"true\">Our next stop was the largest flower market in Ho Chi Minh City.<\/p>\nThe market was very colourful with many different shops and varieties of flowers. Definitely a good place\u00a0to go if you want to test your photography skills.\n\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.expatolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Rose-Market-Saigon-Vietnam.jpg\" alt=\"Ho Thi Ky Market Saigon Vietnam\" data-cke-saved-src=\"https:\/\/www.expatolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Rose-Market-Saigon-Vietnam.jpg\" \/>\n<h3><em><strong>FILL YOUR BELLY WITH BANH XEO<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\nAfter some sightseeing spots, it was time to eat, so we visited a local Banh Xeo restaurant.\n\nBanh Xeo is kind of the Vietnamese version of a savoury pancake, filled with seafood and pork and eaten with lettuce and leaves.\n<p data-slot-rendered-dynamic=\"true\">The kitchen was placed at the entrance to the shop, and we watched as the chef expertly cooked four pancakes at once!<\/p>\n<p data-slot-rendered-dynamic=\"true\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.expatolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Banh-Xeo-Vietnam.jpg\" alt=\"Saigon food tours Vietnam\" data-cke-saved-src=\"https:\/\/www.expatolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Banh-Xeo-Vietnam.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p data-slot-rendered-dynamic=\"true\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.expatolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Banh-Xeo-Vietnamese-food.jpg\" alt=\"Saigon food tours Vietnam\" data-cke-saved-src=\"https:\/\/www.expatolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Banh-Xeo-Vietnamese-food.jpg\" \/><\/p>\nBesides Banh Xeo, we also ate some yummy summer rolls, as well. Dipped in the Hoisin sauce and peanut, they were ready to go!\n<h3><em><strong>NEXT STOP BANH MI!<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n<p data-slot-rendered-dynamic=\"true\">We then moved to a new location to try out Banh Mi \u2013 a Vietnamese style baguette.<\/p>\n<p data-slot-rendered-dynamic=\"true\">This place was particularly famous for its\u00a0tasty bread, which many of the other Banh Mi sellers in the area bought.<\/p>\n<p data-slot-rendered-dynamic=\"true\">Each sandwich was packed with meat and other ingredients, and we could even try making one ourselves!<\/p>\n<p data-slot-rendered-dynamic=\"true\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.expatolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Banh-Mi.jpg\" alt=\"Banh Mi\" data-cke-saved-src=\"https:\/\/www.expatolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Banh-Mi.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p data-slot-rendered-dynamic=\"true\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.expatolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Mia-Lau-juice.jpg\" alt=\"Juice\" data-cke-saved-src=\"https:\/\/www.expatolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Mia-Lau-juice.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n\n<h3><em><strong>ENJOY DELICIOUS SEAFOOD DISHES<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n<p data-slot-rendered-dynamic=\"true\">Seafood was the last stop and also our favorite one. They also took us to explore some hidden places and local food stops.\n<p data-slot-rendered-dynamic=\"true\">Although it rained during the tour and the traffic in Saigon was crazy (it was Saturday night!), their driving skills were impressive.<\/p>\n<p data-slot-rendered-dynamic=\"true\">Overall, we enjoyed the tour.
